 Israel Dream

February 25th, 2015

A few nights ago I had a dream which I believe was from the Lord.  In the dream I am looking at a map of Israel.  I recognized the geography but there were also white lines around Israel that didn't conform to the current borders of Israel, but extended North and East.  These white "borders" were flashing very quickly.  Then there was an earthquake; I didn't see it but I just knew that it had happened.  It was a "medium" earthquake; very noticeable but overall not very destructive.  Then my dream changed and I saw blurred scenes of everyday life in a large city; I knew this city was Jerusalem.  However in my dream I had a "knowing" that the scenes I was seeing were of a very prosperous and thriving city and nation.  All aspects of life had taken a recent and dramatic upturn; the economy, the artistic culture and the over-all health and well being of all the people were especially highlighted in the dream.  I am not sure if I heard it or knew it, but the word "Renaissance" was used in my dream to describe what was happening.  I don't believe that what I was seeing was during a time after the Lord's return; yet it was an undeniable outpouring of blessing and favor of the Lord upon Israel.

As I have been seeking the Lord for understanding of this dream, this is what I have been given.  The white flashing border speaks of the conflict about Israel's existence and borders.  While there are many issues at stake in the upcoming Israeli elections, it is my belief that the most important is the issue of Israel's land and borders.  The two main opposing parties have very diverse viewpoints; one is adamant that no land will be given up for the peace process while the other party is willing to give up land to try and find peace.  The Word of God established the borders of the land promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in Genesis 15:18.  In Ezekiel 47:13-20 there is another description of the borders of Israel.  In the dream the borders that I saw fit closer to the description in Ezekiel.  In either case, Israel has borders defined by the Lord.  The Word also lets us know that there are consequences if anyone seeks to divide the land (Joel 3:2, Zechariah 12:3).  I believe that we are to pray that God will give Israel leadership that will uphold God's Word and look to Him for protection.  "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: may they prosper who love you" (Psalm 122:6).  We should also remember Genesis 12:3; "I will bless those that bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."

The next part of the dream, the earthquake, I believe does not refer to an actual earthquake, but rather refers to a "shaking" of events.  While in prayer about what this shaking could be I recalled a book I read that suggests that Psalm 83 is not just a prayer; but rather a prophecy of an event which has not yet taken place.  "For behold, Your enemies make a tumult; And those who hate You have lifted up their head.  They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, And consulted together against Your sheltered ones.  They have said, ' Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.  For they have consulted together with one consent (purpose); They form a confederacy against You;'" (v. 2-5).  This could easily be a paraphrase of today's headlines.

The last part of the dream I think is self-explanatory; God loves and blesses Israel.  Interestingly enough, I came across another scripture from Ezekiel not long after I had the dream; Ezekiel 28:25-26; 'Thus says the Lord God:  "When I have gathered the house of Israel from the peoples among who they are scattered, and am hallowed in them in the sight of the Gentiles, then they will dwell in their own land which I gave to my servant Jacob.  And they will dwell safely there, build houses, and plant vineyards; yes, they will dwell securely when I execute judgments on all those around them who despise them.  Then they shall know that I am the Lord their God." '   This is certainly a good description of what I saw in the last part of my dream; and it does tie into the description of God's judgment on Israel's neighbors described in Psalm 83.

However, the description of Israel dwelling 'safely' and 'securely' during a time of prosperity reminded me of Ezekiel 38...

I think that the important thing to take away is to keep Israel in prayer, and that our God is true to His Word.  In His Word He has given us "signposts" to remind us that the times and seasons are in His hand, and that He will soon return.  "And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.  I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and Last." (Rev 22:12-13).
