Crossing Over

July 1st, 2017

Late this past March, I was at work and trying to think of a new password for my work computer when the Holy Spirit spoke to me very clearly: "Kairos season."

If you are not familiar with the word 'kairos', it is a Greek word that in general means the right, critical or opportune time.  It is used in the New Testament 86 times and usually refers to "the appointed time in the purpose of God."  The other Greek word for time, 'chronos', refers to a specific time.

Along with the phrase 'kairos season' I heard in my spirit what I can only describe as a trumpet or shofar sound.  This sound persisted for about a week and then stopped.  I knew immediately what was happening.  It was a call in spirit realm for those who are called in this season to draw closer to the Lord and begin to fulfill their God-given destinies.  As I shared in the word Elevator Dream  I have been waiting to be commissioned by the Lord into my calling.  It's not an easy thing to wait for (Psalm 105: 18-19) but over the years I have learned that it is much better to wait on the Lord than to either a) begin to move out on your own or try to promote yourself or b) fall into discouragement and give up.  I'll share that for a variety of reasons, I had fallen into a degree of discouragement and had isolated myself both from the Lord and those around me.  The word that I received from the Holy Spirit and the sound I heard was God's mercy and a call from the Lord to return to Him.  I knew that I had a choice to stay as I was or to repent and move forward again with God.  I chose the latter.  As I moved forward with and in the Lord I received healing both emotionally and physically.

Over the past few years I have seen a pattern that on the day of a new season in the natural I often receive a very clear word from the Lord.  I know that some prophetic ministries regularly receive very high level, specific revelation for the coming year on

Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement).  This makes sense to me as I have come to understand somewhat the importance of the Feasts of the Lord and how they relate to past, present and future events.  However I admit that for a time I resisted the notion that for whatever reason the Lord has, at least for now, chosen to give me revelation on the first day of a new season (Genesis 1:14). The word I was given in March was in fact, on the first day of spring.  Another scripture that the Holy Spirit reminded me of is 1 Corinthians 15:46 "However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual."   Granted that the particular subject is the first and second Adam, but Jesus Himself correlated being able to discern the spiritual in a similar fashion to the natural (Matthew 16: 2-3).  Just as there are seasons in the natural there are seasons in the Spirit.

So a few weeks ago I prayed and asked the Lord if He had a word for the coming season.  He did indeed; "Crossing over" . Deuteronomy 11:11-12 "but the land which you cross over to possess is a land of hills and valleys, which drinks water from the rain of heaven, a land for which the Lord your God cares; the eyes of the Lord your God are always on it, from the beginning of the year to the very end of the year."   However, unlike the word He gave in the spring, which I released privately and didn't elaborate on this time it came with the understanding that I was to release this publicly and to include what I was given in the spring along with my testimony about it.

Something that I have learned to try and always do is to not only give an understanding of the word given (interpretation) but also how to apply it (application).  In this case the interpretation is fairly straight forward but I will be sharing quite a bit on the application.

So, what does it mean, "crossing over"?  Quite simply the picture I got was one of maturing, of preparation.  The 'kairos season' was simply a call for those with "an ear to hear" to come closer to the Lord and if needed, repent of being away from Him, being discouraged etc; to be in a right position with the Lord for the coming season.  Crossing over is a time of being prepared by the Lord for what comes after.

So now for some 'application', or perhaps another way to say it is to answer the question, "What does that look like?" or "what should I do?"  What I am about to share is more 'testimony' than 'prophetic word' but it's just as important as the understanding I've already shared.  When I asked the Lord about what to write He asked me what I had been doing myself.  Any one of these points is worthy of an extended study.  If you don't have understanding of something, seek the Lord on it and I am sure He will lead you into understanding.

Start where you are.  No matter how far away you may be from the Lord you can turn and repent.  I have the sense that the 'season is still open' and there is still time to repent and take part in this next season...and quite frankly as long as you have breath it is never to late to return to the Lord.  But you might miss some things.

Put away childish things.  1 Corinthians 13:11 "When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a         child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things."   Put away anything that is a distraction.  Learn the difference between 'entertainment' (to keep from entering in) and recreation (re-creation).

Joshua lingered.  Exodus 33:11 "So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle."   Pray. A lot.  Be intimate with the Lord.  Pray without ceasing.

Be faithful.  Luke 16:10-12  "He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much. 11 Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? 12 And if you have not been faithful in what is another man’s, who will give you what is your own?"  Do what you have been given to do, and do it well, as unto the Lord.

Be pure.  Matthew 6:22-23 "The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!"   Matthew 5:27-28 “You have heard that it was said to those of old,‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart."  Also Psalm 24:3 Over the past few years the Lord has shown me much on this subject.  Not only does impurity cause you to sin against God, yourself and loved ones, it twists your heart, mind and soul and perverts the way you see God.  It destroys your ability to be intimate platonically, romantically and with the Lord.  And it comes at you often in subtle ways.

Stay in the Word. Ephesians 5:26-27 "that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish."   Even if you are well-versed in the Word, you need this.  In the natural, water that isn't flowing or isn't being moved by the wind attracts and becomes a breeding ground for bugs.  In the spiritual, it opens a person up to deception.

Fast.  Matthew 6:16-18  “Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.  But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly."   Not everyone fasts and I understand.  Yet where I have studied those who stayed true to the Lord and was used by Him in a mighty way this is a common denominator.  However, it should always, in my opinion, be done at the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Don't be alone.   Hebrews 10:25 "not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching."   You weren't meant to do this alone.  Get with those that you trust and include your leader and share what God is doing in your life.  If you don't have someone in your life like that, then you need it.  Ask God to bring you into fellowship with people that love Him and hear from Him.

Stay hidden and humble.  1 Peter 5:5-7  "Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for 'God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.' Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you."  It's hard to wait, but who likes to eat fruit that isn't ripe?  Trust God's timing.  If He is having you wait it's His love and mercy keeping you from a fall.

Be generous, faithful and pure.  Isaiah 58:6-12  “Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke? 7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh? 8 Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard. 9 Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; You shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’  “If you take away the yoke from your midst, The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness, 10 If you extend your soul to the hungry And satisfy the afflicted soul, Then your light shall dawn in the darkness, And your darkness shall be as the noonday. 11 The Lord will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. 12 Those from among you Shall build the old waste places; You shall raise up the foundations of many generations; And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In."

I realize that it's quite the list, but even at that it's not comprehensive.  It's things that the Lord gave me to do myself and to share.  I am doing each the best I can, certainly not perfectly.  However as I have been doing these things I have seen a response in my life in just a very short time.

Shaking and cleansing. In Joshua 5 the first thing that the Israelites did after crossing the Jordan was to circumcise all the males. Hopefully you have an understanding of Romans 2:28-29 "For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; 29 but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God."   I can with all honesty say that the Holy Spirit has convicted me on several issues that were not right in my heart.  It's not be easy, fun or comfortable.  But it has been good.  In addition to experiencing conviction, I have also seen a harvest of things I have sown over the last 10 years or so, good and bad.  I honestly thought that I was under a massive spiritual attack until the Lord showed me what was happening.  What He showed me is that He was bringing some things into a premature harvest to make way for better things, to sow better seed.  Again, it's not been easy or comfortable, but I am thankful for His mercy.

Restoration.  Over the course of the last month or so I have gotten quite a few prophetic words regarding my calling and commissioning. Some things I knew and some I didn't.  The difference is that the Lord was speaking to me through others that I trust  things that for the most part I had received from the Lord only and hadn't shared (Luke 2:19). It's been great to get these words as confirmations of things I have carried in my heart and spirit.   Also specific assignments that I had dropped or forsaken were given back to me.  At the same time, the Lord also reminded me of some things that I had promised to do and had not yet fulfilled.  While it's not good to forsake these kinds of things it is reassuring that they were truly from the Lord when He brings them back to you.

I realize that this is a lot so if you have made it this far God bless you!  Jesus said that many are called and few are chosen.  As with all things in the Lord we have a choice.  We can be saved as 'though by fire', or we can choose to 'grow up in all things'.  I choose to 'cross over' and fulfill as much as possible the destiny He created for me.  It is my prayer that you will too.
